Scandal in Keszthely: Nagy Bálint demands recount! 😲

BalatonLife

Keszthely, cultural stronghold of the northern shore, faces an exciting election turning point: Tisza Party local candidate Varga Balázs beat Fidesz rival Nagy Bálint by just 59 votes in Zala county's 2nd constituency. The Fidesz MP requested a recount that could drag on for weeks and directly affect Balaton development and the start of holiday season. 🏖️

The vote was tighter than expected: Varga Balázs won with 38.57%, Nagy Bálint got 38.42%. Because of this minimal gap – only 59 votes – the Fidesz candidate turned to the National Election Office, urging recheck of Keszthely polling stations. The process could affect the whole constituency including Hévíz, Cserszegtomaj and Vonyarcvashegy.

For Keszthely residents this is more than a political battle: the parliamentary mandate is crucial for lakeside projects – Festetics Castle renovation, Keszthely beach upgrades, expansion of the lakeside cycle network. If representation changes, it could affect tourism grants and summer festivals like Keszthely Discount Days. Locals worry delays could hold up pre-season preparations. ⚖️
