Dramatic collision at Veszprém on the 8th! 🚗💥

An overtaking accident on highway 8 near Veszprém, at kilometer 51, is causing serious traffic disruption for vacationers and locals trying to reach the northern shore of Lake Balaton. 🚗💥 This road serves as the gateway to Lake Balaton, since starting from Veszprém it quickly takes you to Balatonfüred, Csopak or Alsóörs, so it is crucial for beachgoers and water sports lovers.

In the accident, two passenger cars collided, with a total of three passengers in the cars. Professional firefighters from Veszprém went to the scene immediately and cut off the power to one of the vehicles to prevent further risks. An ambulance helicopter has also arrived, and the injured are being treated. There is currently a complete traffic obstruction on the affected road section, which causes significant traffic jams in the direction towards the settlements on the Lake Balaton.

In the Balaton region, this is a particularly sensitive problem right in the middle of the summer season: drivers from Veszprém county and tourists arriving at the lake - who often approach the northern shore from this direction - may face a significant loss of time. For the locals who commute to Balatonalmádi or Füred every day for work, shopping or recreation, this is a daily annoyance. A recommended alternative is route 82 to bypass Veszprém or via Balatonalmádi 71 to avoid congestion. According to the disaster management, the scene investigators are working on a quick release, but they recommend careful driving on the Balaton roads also due to the wet road surface. 🆘
