A triple crash shook Szentgál on the 8th! 💥

Traffic traveling to the northern shore of Lake Balaton and from Veszprém to the area around the lake was severely disrupted by a three-way car accident on highway 8 near Szentgál 🚗💥. The accident, right in the middle of the Balaton vacation season, particularly affects vacationers and local communities, for whom this road is the most important connection to the Balaton coastal settlements, such as Balatonalmádi or Balatonfüred.

Two passenger cars and a minibus collided in a hit-and-run accident at the 69th kilometer section of highway 8 in the Szentgál area. A total of seven people were traveling in the vehicles, luckily no one was seriously injured. The professional firefighters from Veszprém and the volunteer firefighters from Herend rushed to the scene, where they de-energized the minibus and then removed the dirt on the road. Due to the road closure, those heading to the Balaton highlands can expect significant congestion.

For local residents, this causes problems on a daily basis, as Szentgál serves as the northern gate of Lake Balaton, and route 8 is one of the busiest routes to the lakeside beaches. Vacationers are wasting their time, which can worsen the season's traffic in coastal restaurants and accommodations. We recommend using the M7 motorway as an alternative to avoid delays ⚠️.
