Collision in Herend: disruption on the way to Lake Balaton 🚗

An accident on main road 8 near Herend may directly affect traffic heading to Lake Balaton, as this is one of the most important routes towards the western and northern shores. Congestion from the crash can spread to surrounding sections, so holidaymakers from Veszprém and locals may face longer travel times to the shore.

Two cars collided at kilometre 67. Three people were in the vehicles. Veszprém professional firefighters arrived immediately and de-energised the cars to prevent further danger. Ambulance units also attended to treat any injuries.

The incident shows how important safe driving is on routes to the Balaton, especially in summer when traffic increases. Although the crash did not happen directly on the shore, closure or slowdown on road 8 can affect beachgoers and day trippers too. 🚗⚠️

Local authorities are monitoring the situation and advise alternative routes for those heading to the northern shore.
