Keszthely is fine, country unlivable: Fidesz unrest in Zala? 😱
On Lake Balaton's northern shore key town Keszthely, the election campaign is unusually quiet: local rules limited political posters, so holidaymakers and residents can prepare for the season undisturbed. 🗳️ "Keszthely is a good town, pity the country is slowly becoming unlivable" – a local leader told an HVG reporter, noting that even Fidesz supporters in Zala county no longer hide their frustration.
Touring Zala county districts revealed: no nationwide "blood and thunder" campaign stunts or frenzy here. In Keszthely, where lakeside promenades and Festetics Palace draw tourists, mayors – whether close to government or with opposition past – talk about local issues. In a Somogy border village, surprisingly openly, government-loyal leaders spoke about national problems too.
This Zala mood favours the Balaton region: calmer politics does not scare holidaymakers who already relax on Keszthely beaches in June. 🌊 Yet Fidesz complaints – unlivability, delayed developments – are worrying: if Zala slows, it affects Balaton infrastructure, transport between Hévíz and Keszthely, and lakeside tourism recovery. Locals hope regional investments accelerate after the elections.
