MÁV strengthens the Balaton line: Maintenance up to Lepsény! 🚂
The vacationers and residents of South Balaton can rejoice: the MÁV will carry out significant track maintenance on the Székesfehérvár–Lepsény railway line, which is key to quickly reaching the south coast of Balaton. This development promises a smoother journey for those traveling by train to Siófok, Balatonlelle or Zamárdi, especially in the high season. 🚂
According to the plans, about 1,400 meters of rails will be replaced in 2026, and 40 pieces of concrete footing will also be renovated, but the work is more comprehensive than that. The modernization is carried out during a mechanized track closure, so that the track is more durable, with fewer sources of error. Regular maintenance of the 30-kilometer section between Székesfehérvár and Lepsény is essential, as it connects the capital agglomeration with Lake Balaton.
This is a huge step forward for tourism in the Balaton region. For vacationers, fewer delays due to track tests, a more reliable schedule - just think of the families on the beach who arrive by train to the resort towns on the south coast. Going to work and shopping improves on a daily basis for locals, such as those living in Lepsény or Szántód. In the longer term, rail traffic can be revived, which is an environmentally friendly alternative to traffic jams on Route 7. 🌊
MÁV emphasizes that the works involve short-term track closures, but the investment will pay off in safer, faster traffic in Balaton. Thus, the southern shore of Lake Balaton becomes a more attractive destination in the eyes of both locals and visitors.
