A roof caught fire in Balatonszentgyörgy – what happened? 🔥

In Balatonszentgyörgy, one of the quiet settlements on the southern shore of Lake Balaton, flames broke out on the roof structure of a local catering establishment in Berzsenyi Dániel Street. The fire spread quickly, but thanks to the rapid intervention of professional firefighters from Keszthely, Marcali and Zalakaros, it only affected an area of about ten square meters.

The units arriving at the scene immediately dismantled the roof structure to prevent the fire from spreading further. They then managed to extinguish the flames and began ventilating the building. Thanks to the work carried out under the direction of the disaster management operational service of Somogy County, the damage did not become larger.

Such local catering establishments form an important part of tourism on the shores of Lake Balaton, as they are frequently visited not only by locals but also by holidaymakers from surrounding settlements. The quick and professional response of the firefighters once again demonstrated how important well-organized disaster management is in the region.

The incident highlights that regular maintenance of buildings around Lake Balaton is particularly important before the summer season, when guest traffic increases. Fortunately, no personal injuries occurred, and the building will soon be able to welcome guests again.
