Fire between Kánya and Bedegkér – what happened? 🔥

In the immediate vicinity of the southern shore of Lake Balaton, a serious stubble fire broke out between Kánya and Bedegkér, which may be concerning for locals and guests resting during the summer season. The fire is spreading at three locations, totaling sixty hectares, and has already penetrated three hundred square meters into the acacia grove.

The professional firefighters from Siófok, along with the municipal units from Tabi and the volunteer units from Iregszemcse, are working to contain the flames. Siófok, as one of the busiest resorts on Lake Balaton, is particularly affected: the rapid deployment of the local professional team shows that lakeside settlements must always be on standby for such agricultural fires.

Due to the smoke and changes in wind direction, air quality may also be affected in the surrounding villages and on the Balaton beaches. For locals, the incident is a reminder that agricultural areas and forest patches are closely connected to the lake – a larger fire can easily spread to popular hiking spots as well.
