Emergency near Zalaszentgrót: combine harvester burned in the fields 🔥

Flames broke out in the cab of a combine harvester on the outskirts of Zalaszentgrót near the northern shore of Lake Balaton, prompting the professional firefighters from Keszthely to rush to the scene immediately. The incident highlights how quickly the rescue units around the lake respond to emergencies in the region.

The fire affected four to five hectares of the grain field, while the machine's cabin was completely burned out. The municipal firefighters from Zalaszentgrót quickly contained the vehicle's flames in the initial moments and are currently working to prevent further spread. Units from Keszthely, Zalaegerszeg, and Sárvár, as well as the disaster management operational service, also arrived at the area to support the efforts.

Such agricultural fires can also impact the economies around Lake Balaton, as a significant portion of the grain produced in the region supplies local hospitality and tourism as well. Similar incidents during the summer harvest season therefore affect not only farmers but also lakeside service providers.
