On June 28, in the afternoon hours, a 41-year-old man from Kaposvár fell from a water bike into the lake and lost his life – the case has since become not only an administrative but also the subject of criminal proceedings.

The Balaton Water Police Department initially investigated the case according to general rules, but the Criminal Directorate of the Somogy County Police Headquarters ordered an investigation on suspicion of the crime of failure to provide assistance. This means that the authorities believe it may arise that someone or some people did not provide assistance to the man in distress, although they would have had the opportunity to do so.
