Balaton Alarm: Fire in the Outskirts of Kislőd 🔥

The fire that broke out in the outskirts of Kislőd in Veszprém county is also unsettling residents and holidaymakers in settlements near the northern basin of Lake Balaton. Dry grass, undergrowth and straw bales caught fire, the blaze has already affected twenty hectares, and the smoke cloud could drift from the Bakony towards the lake. Professional firefighters from Pápa, Ajka and Veszprém, as well as volunteers from Herend, responded to the scene. The rescue is being directed by the Veszprém county disaster management operational service to curb the spread as soon as possible. Quick intervention is particularly important during the summer season, as Balaton-side guests and locals alike react sensitively to possible deterioration in air quality or potential road closures. According to experts, the next few hours could be decisive due to wind direction and drought. Disaster management is asking motorists around the Balaton to pay particular attention to fire engines in the vicinity of main roads 77 and 82. Local municipalities are continuously informing the public to prevent the fire from spreading to forested areas either.
