Kékszalag: Shortened Route on Lake Balaton Due to Water Shortage

The water level of Lake Balaton is particularly low this year, which directly affected this year's Kékszalag sailing competition. The organizers had to shorten the route because the forecasted average water level of 55 cm is 60 cm below the ideal, 40 cm below last year's value.

The Kékszalag is one of the best-known and most prestigious competitions in Hungarian sailing, attracting hundreds of boats to Lake Balaton every year. For the participants, the main attraction is not only the sporting performance but also the lake's special atmosphere, the wind conditions and the community experience.

The modified course due to the low water level is shorter, but it still poses a serious challenge for the competitors. For the settlements along Lake Balaton, it is an excellent opportunity to attract visitors with programs around the competition, harbor events and spectator experiences.

If you love sailing or simply want to be part of Lake Balaton's biggest sporting event, don't miss it!
