Fire near Nemesgulács: The grass of the Balaton Uplands is burning 🔥

On the wine-growing region of the northern shore of Balaton, in the outskirts of Nemesgulács, flames broke out in the dry grass. The fire affects an area of about seven hectares, including old, abandoned vineyard areas, which is alarming news for residents and holidaymakers in the vicinity of Badacsony Hill.

The professional firefighters from Badacsonytomaj and the municipal firefighters from Tapolca quickly contained the flames with three water jets, so the fire did not spread further towards the nearby forest belts or resort areas. The effectiveness of the intervention was crucial in the period before the summer season, when dry vegetation can easily catch fire.
