Dry Balaton shore grass catches fire near Felsőörs 🔥

A fire broke out in the dry grass and leaf litter beside Fő utca near Felsőörs on the northern shore of Lake Balaton. The blaze affected about one and a half hectares along road 7219, spreading rapidly due to the dry vegetation. Professional firefighters from Veszprém were called to the scene and extinguished the fire with four water jets using a water tanker from Ajka. After the intervention they immediately began post-operation work to prevent re-ignition. Felsőörs is one of the popular settlements on the northern shore of Lake Balaton, where many seek relaxation on the lakeshore during the summer months. Such fires can be concerning for local residents and guests alike, as the smoke and fire can directly affect air quality in the area. Fortunately, the quick intervention prevented the flames from spreading to a larger area or nearby green zones. Rapid response to such incidents is especially important in the Balaton region, since vegetation can easily catch fire during dry periods.
