Zalaapáti in Flames: Fire Spreading Towards Balaton 🔥

In the western gateway of the Balaton region, in the outskirts of Zalaapáti, the undergrowth caught fire right next to main road 75. The fire broke out around Öreghegy Street, and is spreading rapidly in the dry, hard-to-see area, causing disruption near an important traffic route for vacationers and locals alike. The professional firefighters from Pacsa arrived at the scene immediately, but due to the large extent of the fire, additional units are also on the way. The flames are not only consuming the dry vegetation but have also caught a sunflower field and are threatening a nearby forest strip. The area is difficult to access, so the intervention may take longer. Main road 75 is one of the important arteries for traffic heading towards the western shore of Balaton, so the smoke and possible traffic restrictions may directly affect vacationers heading to Keszthely and the surrounding beaches. In this year's dry period, similar incidents can also negatively impact the tourism of lakeside settlements, therefore the authorities are paying special attention to the spread of the fire.
