Fire in Bakonypölöskén: stubble and forest strip caught fire 🔥

Among the settlements near Lake Balaton, flames broke out in Bakonypölöskén, right near Új utca. The fire spread quickly on the dry stubble and the adjacent forest strip, eventually affecting about fifteen hectares. Professional firefighters from Pápa, the Badacsonytomaj and Ajka arrived at the scene, who managed to control the flames with coordinated work.

The participation of the Badacsonytomaj unit is particularly important for the Balaton Uplands, as the region’s forest strips form an integral part of the lake’s catchment area. The firefighters’ rapid intervention prevented the flames from spreading to larger forest areas or inhabited parts.

It is reassuring for locals that the damage mainly affected agricultural and forested areas, and no residential buildings were endangered. At the same time, the incident once again draws attention to the need to strictly observe fire safety regulations during dry periods in the settlements around Lake Balaton as well 🔥.
