Zamárdi meglepetése: Fenyő Miklós emlékpadja a Balaton partján 🪑

Zamárdi's Surprise: Fenyő Miklós Memorial Bench on the Balaton Shore 🪑

BalatonLife

Zamárdi has once again proven how the settlements along the Balaton shore preserve the memory of artists connected to them. Fenyő Miklós once had a summer house in the town, so it is no coincidence that the legendary musician received a permanent memorial here.

Through a joint initiative of the STRAND Festival and Zamárdi, a memorial bench shaped like checkered sunglasses was installed on the Balaton shore. This special installation evokes the Hungária era, when Fenyő Miklós’s unique style and music became an inseparable part of Balaton-side holidays 🌊.

For the four days of the festival, streets in Zamárdi were named after Péter Szolnoki, Juli Fábián, Péter Máté, Örs Siklósi and DJ Palotai. It is a special gesture that DJ Palotai’s honorary fee is again given to his family this year, thereby supporting the relatives of the late artist.

For the local community, this memorial bench is more than just a bench: it is a symbol of the musical heritage connected to the Balaton. While debates have arisen around similar initiatives elsewhere, Zamárdi resolved the task simply and with dignity, reinforcing the town’s cultural identity.

The memorial bench will continue to welcome visitors who can remember Fenyő Miklós and the era of summer ease beside the waves of the Balaton ☀️.
