Siófok campus conquered: nearly 300 students by Lake Balaton
Siófok on the shores of Lake Balaton is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for higher education as well. Two faculties of the University of Debrecen – the health sciences and the economics faculties – have strengthened their presence in the lakeside town through the supplementary admission procedure, which could stimulate the local community and economy in the long term.
73 people applied to the announced programs, and after the announcement of the admission thresholds, 42 new first-year students can begin their studies in Siófok. According to the university, sixteen were admitted to state-funded programs. This expansion is particularly important for the Balaton region, where the presence of young people can contribute to further improvements in tourism and healthcare services.
The Siófok campus is not only an educational center but can also serve as a valuable source of labor for businesses around Lake Balaton. The economics programs provide knowledge tailored to the needs of tourism and local businesses, while the health sciences programs can strengthen healthcare provision in the region. 🌊
The arrival of new students livens up city life, increases demand in the rental market, and supports local service providers. Higher education on the shores of Lake Balaton is thus increasingly becoming the engine of regional development, attracting young people and strengthening Siófok’s position in the area.
