Fiery alarm near Tapolca: dry grass burning by Lake Balaton 🔥

In one of the popular settlements of the Balaton Uplands, on the outskirts of Tapolca, a serious fire broke out near main road 77. The dry grass caught fire, and the blaze spread rapidly, already affecting an area of more than one hectare while also reaching a pine forest where the tree crowns are burning.

The flames not only threaten nature but also pose an immediate danger to the surrounding allotments, a motorhome, outbuildings, a riding stable and a solar park. This incident is particularly worrying for the Balaton region, as the fire affects local wildlife and green areas that are also important from a tourism perspective.

Professional firefighters from Badacsonytomaj, Veszprém and Pápa, together with Tapolca municipal firefighters, are working on site to contain the flames. Cooperation among the settlements around Lake Balaton is now especially important to prevent the fire from spreading further toward populated areas or the forest 🔥.
