Why is forest access restricted in Somogy near Lake Balaton? 🌲
On the southern shore of Lake Balaton, in the Somogy forests, a partial visitor restriction will come into effect in September. SEFAG Zrt. is restricting entry to the leased areas based on the hunting law due to forestry and wildlife management works.
For Balaton hikers and local residents, this means that free movement will be prohibited in certain forest strips, especially at the beginning of the hunting season. It is advisable to follow the designated tourist routes and pay attention to the on-site information boards.
The restriction affects part of the forests around Lake Balaton, so some walking and cycling paths may also change during the month.
