The privileged investment also failed in Tihany – what comes now? 😲

Among the Balaton shore developments, special attention was given to the Tihany hotel investment, which has now lost its previous privileged status. According to the government's decision, the project is no longer exempt from general construction and environmental regulations, so stricter rules regarding the sensitive ecosystem of Lake Balaton may also apply.

According to the list published in the Magyar Közlöny, several other investments besides Tihany have also been downgraded. The Tihany development included hotel construction, related infrastructure works and real estate development, which previously enjoyed advantages by a separate government decree. These advantages have now ceased, so the local building regulations and the provisions of the Balaton Act are also mandatory.

This could mean a significant change for the settlements around Lake Balaton. In the case of Tihany, the withdrawn privileged classification means that the investor must now take into account the regulations protecting the town's image and the requirements for preserving the lakeside green areas. This could bring greater transparency and environmental guarantees for local residents and tourism stakeholders.

Many in the Balaton region welcome the step, as the privileged status previously often overrode local interests. 🌊 Now, however, the regular regulations come into force, which could contribute to more sustainable developments around the lake.
