Burning Truck Blocks Traffic Near Balatonboglár on the M7 🔥

The accident on one of the most important transport routes in the Balaton region, the M7 motorway, caused alarm over the weekend. At the 144th kilometer marker, near Balatonboglár, a truck trailer caught fire on the side towards Kanizsa, affecting not only road users but also residents of nearby settlements and guests arriving at Lake Balaton.

The fire quickly spread to the dry grass around the vehicle, covering about fifty square meters. Professional firefighters from Siófok and municipal firefighters from Balatonboglár arrived at the scene immediately to contain the flames. The work was also supported by a water tanker from Siófok, thus preventing the fire from spreading further towards the Balaton shoreline areas.

Due to the accident, traffic restrictions had to be expected on the affected section of the M7, which significantly impacted traffic between Balatonboglár and Siófok. For locals and holidaymakers, this meant longer waits and the use of detours, especially during the summer period when the region's road network is already under heavy load.

Thanks to the quick intervention, no personal injuries occurred, but the firefighters emphasized that it is always advisable to be prepared for similar incidents on the motorway sections around Lake Balaton. 🚒
