Turn in the Balaton e-port case: court against the government office ⚖️

Among the Balaton shore settlements, the planned e-port investment in Balatonföldvár has been a topic for many years, which may be important both for tourism around the lake and sustainable boating. However, the latest court decision may set a new direction in the case again.

According to the ruling of the Pécs Court, the Veszprém County Government Office must conduct a new procedure in the e-port permitting case. The court annulled the authority's previous rejection, so the application of the investor, Balabo Kft., must be re-examined. Deputy Mayor Károly Herényi says the legal dispute has been ongoing for several years, and despite the Curia's previous guidance, changes in the facts and the regulatory environment now allow for a deviation.

The court holds that deviation from Curia decisions is possible if a significant change occurs. This step may directly affect the pace of Balaton shore developments, as the e-port could be decisive for the local community and tourism around the lake alike. The coming months' procedure will therefore be important not only legally but also for the quality of life at Balaton.
