Roller raid on the Balaton main square – what did they uncover? 🚔

BalatonLife

On the central squares of the Balaton shore settlements, including the Fő tér, pedestrian traffic is particularly high during the summer period. That is why the city guard and the police carried out a joint inspection on Tuesday in the area, where many people use electric scooters despite the local regulation that has prohibited this mode of transport since 2022.

During the operation, fifteen offenders received written warnings, while two minors were given verbal warnings. The aim of the inspection was to increase pedestrian safety, as the Fő tér and the surrounding promenades are popular gathering spots for Balaton visitors. The use of electric scooters is not yet uniformly regulated by the Highway Code, so enforcing local rules is especially important.

Traffic safety is a priority issue for Balaton settlements, especially during the peak tourist season. Such raids help create a calmer and safer environment in pedestrian zones for both locals and guests. 🚨

Experience shows that despite the ban, many still choose this means of transport on the lakeside promenades. The authorities emphasize that similar inspections will continue in the future to preserve the appeal and safety of Balaton shore public spaces.
