Car caught fire on the M7 near Balaton 🔥

On one of the most important routes leading to Balaton, on the Letenye-bound side of the M7 motorway, flames erupted from a passenger car near Balatonendréd. The incident at the 117th kilometer quickly spread in the area, as holidaymakers arriving from the capital often approach the lake on this section of the road.

The vehicle caught fire in its entirety, but the occupants were able to get out in time, so no personal injuries occurred. The professional firefighters from Siófok arrived at the scene shortly and prevented the fire from spreading to the surrounding vegetation or other vehicles. The intervention was directed by the disaster management operational service of Somogy county.

This section of the M7 is particularly busy during the Balaton season, so the fire temporarily slowed traffic in the area. Thanks to the quick action of the Siófok units, however, traffic could soon resume, and motorists heading to the Balaton-side settlements could continue their journey with only a short delay.
