Where did Lake Balaton go? Swallowed by the fog blanket 🌫️

With the arrival of autumn, the area around Lake Balaton also shows its new face: the meeting of cooler mornings and the still warm lake water creates a spectacular fog blanket on the water surface. 🌫️ In the early morning hours, a mystical, dense veil of fog spreads over Lake Balaton, which presents a particularly picturesque image at sunrise.

The conditions are ideal for the formation of this phenomenon at the Hungarian sea. The lake remains relatively warm even in autumn, while the night air cools quickly. This temperature difference results in dense mist, offering an unforgettable experience for those strolling along the shores of Lake Balaton and early birdwatchers alike. Photographers particularly love these moments, when the fog clouds almost hide the opposite shore and the landscape completely transforms.

Over the weekend, minimum temperatures around 10 °C were measured along the shores of Lake Balaton, which proved milder compared to inland areas. This pleasant coolness further enhances the autumn atmosphere, while the fog blanket slowly lifts during the day, giving way to sunny but distinctly autumnal weather. Lake Balaton thus manages to surprise visitors in every season.
