Waves of the Fog Sea over Balaton: What Does It Hide? 🌫️
The western basin of Lake Balaton greeted the residents and visitors of the area with a special fog phenomenon on Saturday morning. The biting dawn air and the moisture flowing from the lake surface together created that spectacular fog sea, which completely covered the water mirror around Fonyód.
Viewed from the Fonyódi Várhegy-kilátó, a rolling, dense vapor blanket covered the Hungarian sea. The witness hills rose like islands from the white cover, while the first rays of the sun only faintly filtered through the fog blanket. This phenomenon is particularly characteristic in the autumn months at Balaton, when the temperature difference between the water and the air favors fog formation.
In the western basin, in addition to the spectacle, road users also had to pay attention to the limited visibility conditions. For local hikers and fishermen, however, nature's temporary work of art provided unforgettable moments 🌫️. During the morning, the fog gradually lifted, giving way to sunshine and milder afternoon temperatures.
Such mornings remind us that the Balaton area holds exciting natural phenomena not only in summer but also during the change of seasons for curious eyes.
