Balaton: Rainy turn from Wednesday? Get ready! 🌧️

In the Balaton region, umbrellas may come out again on Wednesday afternoon, as another precipitation zone reaches the lake and its surroundings from the southwest. After the sunny Tuesday, the cloud cover gradually thickens in the afternoon in the Balaton-side settlements, and rain may start in more and more places.

In the western and central basins of Balaton, rain, showers, and even embedded thunderstorms can be expected from the early afternoon hours. The amount of precipitation is not evenly distributed: according to the models, 20–40 millimeters of rain may fall in some parts of the region, while less will fall elsewhere. On the bike paths and beaches around the lake, it is worth preparing for wet weather in the afternoon.

In the evening and night hours the precipitation will become more widespread around Balaton, so Thursday morning may also start with rain in many places on the southern shore and in front of the Bakony. This amount may be favorable for the water level of the lake, but sudden showers may temporarily make water traffic and outdoor programs more difficult.

For local catering establishments and accommodation providers, the changeable weather in the coming days means new organizational tasks: closing terraces, moving programs indoors or cleaning up after the rain will all be part of the middle of the week. 🌧️ It is worth keeping an eye on local forecasts to plan excursions around Balaton safely and pleasantly.
