Windstorm on Lake Balaton for Thursday: what does the storm bring? 🌬️

At Lake Balaton, stormy winds are arriving tomorrow, which will thoroughly stir up the lake's surface and local programs. 🌬️ Due to the strengthening air current from the northwest, high waves may form on the water surface, so caution is especially important for boaters and sailors.

Due to the undulating frontal system overnight, precipitation is expected in many places in the Balaton region as well, then on the back side of the front the northwesterly wind will pick up in more and more areas. During the day, the strongest gusts around the lake may reach 70–80 km/h, and in higher areas gusts of up to 90 km/h are also possible. In addition to the wind, temperatures will also drop, with only 12–18 degrees expected in the afternoon.

Due to the stormy weather, it is advisable to drive carefully in the lakeside settlements, and to avoid entering the water at the beaches. Because of the cool, strong wind, layered clothing is also recommended, as the air may feel cooler than it actually is.
