Balaton Ice: Sharpen Your Skates! ⛸️

On the southern shore of Lake Balaton, we can also skate this year right next to the waterfront, as the ice rink season starts with the arrival of colder weather. The settlements around the lake are already expecting visitors from the end of November, thus opening up new opportunities for locals and winter hikers to spend their free time.

Siófok opens its ice rink on the Nagystrand on Friday, November 27 at 9 a.m., and it can be used completely free of charge on the opening day. This offers a great opportunity for Balaton families and locals to try out the first skating sessions of the season by the lake. One day later, on November 28, the ice rink starts in Fonyód at Vigadó Square, where the organizers are also preparing new features this year to make the program even more attractive.

The official opening in Balatonlelle will be held on December 5 at the event square, while in Balatonboglár negotiations are still ongoing regarding the operation of the rink. In December, the BAHART Advent boat services will connect the programs in Fonyód, Lelle and Badacsony, making it easier to move between the two shores of the lake ❄️.

The opening of the ice rinks around Lake Balaton brings joy not only to sports enthusiasts but also contributes to the growth of winter tourism in the region. It is particularly good news for locals that the season starts with free or discounted days in several settlements, allowing more people to enjoy the lakeside winter atmosphere.
