Rear-end collision in Balatonalmádi – jam on route 71

⚠️ A rear-end crash on one of the Balaton northern shore's busiest sections in Balatonalmádi has significantly complicated traffic around the lake. On the Balatonfüred road, route 71, a van and a car collided at the Thököly Street junction.

Professional firefighters from Balatonfüred are carrying out technical rescue. The crew de-energised the car and assists police clearing the scene. Traffic runs under police direction, alternating one lane, causing rapid tailbacks.

Between Balatonalmádi and Balatonfüred route 71 is not only locals' daily backbone but holidaymakers' main route. Anyone arriving from Veszprém or leaving Almádi towards Balatonfüred or Tihany should expect serious delays. In summer this already crowded road now tests patience – especially for those rushing to beaches, restaurants or the ferry.

Many choose smaller internal roads, but on Balaton towns' narrow streets these aren't always faster. Locals say accidents on route 71 have increased in recent years, especially in summer when lakeside traffic surges.

Authorities ask travellers to avoid the scene if possible and follow local traffic information. If you can, delay the trip or choose another Balaton destination today.
