The Körpresszó in Tihany is back in its original glory! ☕

The iconic Körpresszó building in Tihany on the northern shore of Lake Balaton can finally return to its original modern reinforced concrete form from the 1950s and 60s, which is great news for both locals and tourists around the lake. 🏛️ The decision made at the planning council meeting in Tihany at the beginning of February opens up the possibility of renovating the legendary press, which has shone as an architectural treasure of the Balaton coast for decades.

The building is considered a Hungarian masterpiece of modernism, with its characteristic round shape and reinforced concrete structure perfectly fitting the atmosphere of Tihany's harbor. However, in recent decades, significant transformations have distorted its original appearance: traces of holiday homes, commercial units and other expansions have made it lose the clean beauty that once made it a symbol of café culture. The planning council has now given the green light for the restoration, so the Tihany municipality and the owners can start work on the reconstruction.

This development gives a huge boost to the tourism of Tihany, which already attracts vacationers with the most beautiful panoramas and lavender fields of Lake Balaton. For the locals, this is a nostalgic return to the golden age of Balaton summers, while the renovated Körpresszó serves as a new attraction for walkers, sailors and cyclists on the waterfront. It strengthens the preservation of the built heritage of Lake Balaton, contributing to the sustainable development of lakeside settlements such as Tihany and its surroundings - less destruction, more quality hospitality during the beach season. 🌊 Visitors to the Lake Balaton will soon be able to enjoy the original Körpresszó leaning over the lake again, which further enriches the unique atmosphere of the region.
